San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in America. It has a large population, but also offers plenty of unique experiences for tourists. Whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure, here are some of my favorite things to do when visiting San Francisco.

Shopping

You’ve got to go shopping in San Francisco. The city is known for its amazing shopping opportunities and there are plenty of places that you can get your fill. Whether it’s Union Square or Fisherman’s Wharf, Haight-Ashbury or Chinatown, North Beach, or the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, there are many options for where you can spend your hard-earned money on art and accessories.

Fisherman’s Wharf is a great place to start if you’re looking for souvenirs from the city. There are tons of stores with unique items that will remind you of your trip back home when friends ask about how much fun it was visiting San Francisco! If shopping isn’t really your thing but still want something tangible from your trip then maybe consider buying some local produce at the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market; it doesn’t get any fresher than this!

Sightseeing

San Francisco is a city that’s rich in history and culture. There are many things to do as a tourist, from sightseeing at landmarks and famous locations to exploring the outdoors by hiking trails or biking through Golden Gate Park.

The Golden Gate Bridge is one of San Francisco’s most iconic landmarks. The bridge spans 8 time zones and connects San Francisco with Marin County across the bay. It was built between 1933-1937 for $35 million dollars (about $1 billion today). The bridge has become an international symbol for San Francisco as well as an important site for transportation and recreation.

Alcatraz Island is located just offshore from Fisherman’s Wharf where tourists can take tours of this notorious prison island where gangsters such as Al Capone were housed during its operation from 1934-1963!

Union Square is home to many people-watching restaurants along with theatres showcasing Broadway musicals like Wicked or Phantom Of The Opera.

Fisherman’s Wharf offers great views of Alcatraz Island & Pier 39 which houses sea lions sunning themselves on docks while waiting for their next meal.

Chinatown is another popular destination filled with delicious foods ranging from dim sum brunches at Yank Sing restaurant to dumpling shops offering delicious pot stickers; it also houses historic buildings such as Ping Yuen apartments where seniors live off government welfare benefits on Sutter Street near Stockton Street in downtown Chinatown. San Francisco is known for its drinking culture, and if you’re going to be living here for any length of time, you’ll have to get used to it. You can imbibe in many different ways in this city: from bars and restaurants to your hotel room, or even in one of San Francisco’s parks or beaches. The best part about drinking here is that there are so many options.

If you want to drink with locals but don’t want to pay too much money, try hitting up one of the dive bars around town (like The Saloon). This bar has been open since 1858, although it was called “the Bucket” back then!
