Eligibility for Vanier Scholarship

To be considered for a Vanier Scholarship, you must meet CIHR’s terms and conditions.

  • You must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
  • You must be eligible for registration as a full-time graduate student at an eligible Canadian institution (e.g., university, college, or community college).
  • You must have completed the first year of your doctoral program (excluding thesis research) at this time.
  • A completed online application consists of the following components:
  • A CV or curriculum vitae.
  • Research proposal.
  • Two reference letters (one academic, one professional). An academic reference should be from an instructor who has taught you in your field and is familiar with your educational and professional goals; a professional reference should be from someone who knows you well professionally but is not directly related to your field of study (e.g., employer or family member). We recommend that both references be submitted electronically by uploading them into our system before submitting your application form so they can also go through our review process automatically when we receive them! Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships Benefits

The Vantage Point program is a peer-to-peer mentorship and leadership development initiative that aims to improve the lives of young people living in the Tragically Hip-declared Macleod Region.

The program provides an opportunity for recipients to learn from others in their age group, share experiences, develop leadership skills, and build networks with other awardees.

Recipients will be required to complete one online course each semester for three years (up until 2022). This coursework will be offered by the UNB Community College as part of their educational programming and includes topics such as:
